Today we started with speech fluency drills. Our students tried to speak on a random topic for as long as possible without using the words “like, um, uh”. Aaron, held the record for the longest time, at 1 minute and 4 seconds. Then students gave speeches on their favorite board games. Our instructors critiqued speeches and then our students redid them with improvements.
For lunch, we had Comella’s pizza and played cards and monopoly. After lunch, our instructors gave a lecture on attacking logic and rebuttal techniques. Some of our students did full debates on the resolution “Single-sex schools are better than co-educational schools,” the culmination of two days of preparation. We were really impressed by the creative arguments and responses our students came up with.
